This weekend, Daffy and I are getting ready to record the next episode of our podcast. We have been working on some ways to improve the show from content to sound quality. The next episode has a Saturday Night Live-inspired theme. So as we build up to the next episode, we are going to run an SNL bracket game to pick your favorite former SNL cast-member.
The first match-up of the tournament was a rout. Back in the day, Chevy Chase was the biggest star to come out of Saturday Night Live. But the years have not been kind to Chase’s legacy. His opponent, Bill Murray, on the other hand, has become a beloved eccentric and comedy genius. Chase had the misfortune of going up against Murray in the first round. Murray is easily a favorite to get to the finals and has a good chance to take the crown. Tough break for Chase who probably could have gone deep in the tournament.
Our second match-up sees two stars who worked together post-SNL square off. Tracy Morgan started on SNL in 1996. He stayed on the show for seven years before starring in his own short-lived sitcom, The Tracy Morgan Show. Tina Fey was SNL’s first female head writer. She was best known for anchoring Weekend Update. After six years on SNL, she left to star in her own sitcom, 30 Rock which co-starred Morgan.
