Haunted Mansion Pics!

Just thought I’d share a few pics from our night at the Magic Kingdom last October.
Largely based on Lebeau’s recommendation, we added an evening at “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party” to our trip to Orlando and were very glad that we did. As 2 adults without children in tow, we found that the price of the 4PM to Midnight tickets ($60 last year) were a pretty good value. While the crowds were big enough to retain the excitement of being at Disney World, they were also small enough that we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes in any queue. We got a lot done in one night in a great environment!
The above photo is a fun atmospheric shot Lynn took of the pet cemetery.

…and here’s a nice standard shot of WDW’s Mansion.
The Haunted Mansion is our favorite attraction at Disney World, and an October Halloween party was the perfect time to give it some extra attention, especially with the “plusses” that had been tacked on to the classic attraction pretty recently at the time.

This is what it looks like when there’s enough space for a body to be buried at a tombstone.

Unfortunately, Pepe Le Queue also has some that look like this. But I’m NOT going to get started on PPLQ here, or this could turn into a very long post indeed.

We rode through the Haunted Mansion six times that night, and one of those times, the ride stopped (this usually happens because there’s a handicapped visitor who needs to board a doombuggy that isn’t moving) and we got to take this picture of the “opera glasses lady” of the Sinister 11. Very happy to have this pic!
The new pixellated hitchhiking ghosts were initially less objectionable than the interactive queue, but they weren’t awesome. We’ll see how they age. The original rod puppets had retained their charm pretty well over the previous 40 years, so who knows?

The above two photos show the mansion from the same vantage point, but one is during daylight and the other is an evening shot.
As always, the Mansion is a wonderful experience, even with the uncertainty created by the changes/additions, and we will “hurry back” this holiday season for the Christmas party version of this event. We probably won’t ride the Mansion six times that night, but we’ll probably ride more than once.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures. I can’t wait to get back in December!

Great pics! Love the Mansion! I can never commit fully to a favorite attraction. But the Mansion is in the top 3 at any given time. I don’t think I knew you were planning to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party as part of your trip. Makes perfect sense of course for the same reasons that the Halloween party can be a good deal. Have you ordered your tickets yet? I’m very excited. Yesterday afternoon, the price of our plane tickets fell by $60/seat. They had just dropped a couple weeks earlier, so this second drop saved me about $100/seat.… Read more »

Cereal boxes? Wow. You are a lucky man.
Your plan for the party tix seems sound. I would want to nail down all the details first since the tix are non-refundable. I don’t think you have any worries about it selling out in early Dec. Just be sure to purchase in advance to save a few bucks.
Disney will call a room adjacent to a puddle a “water view” room, so you never know. But I like your chances very well.
