Under-rated Disney World: Coronado Springs Resort

csr wide view

I hesitate to say that any Disney World Resort is under-rated because frankly they are all over-priced.  However, savvy Disney World guests know that discounts abound.  Even discounted, I wouldn’t call Disney-owned hotel rooms a bargain.  But the expense can be rationalized given the uniqueness of the on-property experience.

Disney breaks down their hotels into three broad classifications: Value, Moderate and Deluxe.  Guests who are looking to stretch their dollar tend to stay in the Value resorts.  Those who are looking for luxury at any price, stay at the Deluxe resorts.  But the Moderates tend to be over-looked.  They cost significantly more than the Value resorts.  Many guests question whether or not the extra amenities are worth the expense.

As with any Disney World planning related question, the answer depends on your group’s priorities.  For my family, the Moderate resorts are frequently worth the extra expense because we tend to spend time at the resort in between visiting the parks.  To date, we have stayed at two of the three Moderate resorts.  We have stayed at Port Orleans and Coronado Springs.  We have yet to visit Caribbean Beach.

I could make an argument that all three resorts are somewhat under-rated.  But of the three, I feel that Coronado Springs tends to be over-looked the most.

What the Hell Happened to Ashley Judd?

ashley judd 2013

Ashley Judd

In the 90’s, Ashley Judd was one of the most promising actresses in Hollywood.  She has been nominated for two Golden Globes, played a young Marilyn Monroe and for a while she practically owned the thriller genre.  But later in her career, Judd transitioned from suspense movies to chick flicks and political activism.  Since then, Judd’s movie career has shifted into low gear.  These days, Judd is better known for her political aspirations than her latest movies.

What the Hell Happened to Matt Dillon?

matt dillon - 2014

Matt Dillon was “discovered” while cutting class as a teen.  Not surprisingly, he made a career in the 80’s playing the kind of kids who got into trouble.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s Dillon successfully transitioned to adult roles with some critically acclaimed performances in smaller, independent films.  He also appeared in several popular, mainstream Hollywood movies.  In spite of all of this success, Dillon never established himself as an A-list box office draw.

What the Hell Happened to Reese Witherspoon?

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon started her career in independent films in the 1990s.  With the new millennium, she entered the mainstream.  For a while, she seemed like the heir apparent to Julia Roberts as the Queen of Rom Coms.  She scored an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her performance in Walk the Line in 2005.  Since then, she has had one live action box office hit, a handful of disappointments and an embarrassing arrest for disorderly conduct.

Who are the current A-List actresses?

Several times during the WTHH series often emerge complaints about the difficult for actresses to emerge as box-office draws. Hollywood tends to be a place with little space for pardon and second chances for women as many WTHH subject, like Demi Moore, Meg Ryan and Winona Ryder experienced. It is much harder for women to become A-List and is much harder for women to stay on top or forget scandals and bad career moves.

But who are current female A-List in Hollywood? Weeks ago Forbes revealed its yearly list of highest paid actresses. Here is the top 10 of Hollywood’s highest grossing actresses:

What the Hell Happened to Kurt Russell?

Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell has had an extremely long career.  So long that a lot of audiences probably don’t remember his career as a child actor.  Russell started making TV appearances in the late 1950s through the 60s.  In the 70s, he became the top star at Disney.  In the 80s, Russell and director John Carpenter created iconic anti-heroes.  Russell continued to work in various dramas throughout his career.  And yet, over the course of his long career, he never quite reached A-list status.
