Starlog Archives: Robert Vaughn

Actor Robert Vaughn passed away earlier this year at the age of 83.  His career in film and television spanned decades.  It included such films as The Magnificent Seven, The Young Philadelphians, Bullitt, The Towering Inferno and Superman III.  But Vaughn was best known from his years on television in shows like The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Protectors, The A-Team and Hustle.  Starlog talked to Vaughn about his long career in showbiz in this interview from the December 2006 issue.

  1. First of all: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! This was the best archive tribute any magazine or website ever did for this talented, vulnerable, sexy, and awesome man. I loved looking at the pictures of him with Steve McQueen. They were friends to the end.

Vaughn is one of my favorite members of “The Magnificent Seven” (along with McQueen, Yul Brynner, and Charles Bronson). It’s really sad they all rode off into the sunset now.

Of all the celebrity deaths that occurred this year, Vaughn’s death hot me the hardest. David Bowie’s, Alan Rickman’s, Anton Yelchin’s, and Gene Wilder’s deaths hit me hard, too, but Vaughn had something special that the others I listed didn’t have. I’ll miss him forever. 😦
