July 2: Happy Birthday Margot Robbie and Larry David

0702RobbieDavid

Our two headliners appeared on Saturday Night Live last October, when Margot Robbie was the host and Larry David was there to play Bernie Sanders for “Celebrity Family Feud: Political Edition.”  That’s musical guest The Weeknd between them.

Margot Robbie is celebrating her 27th today.  She began acting as a teenager in her native Australia, appearing in a couple of feature films before beginning a three-year run on the Aussie soap opera Neighbors, during which she received two Logie nominations (Australian Emmys).  She then moved to the US to pursue a Hollywood career.  After a regular role in the short-lived series Pan Am, she made a breakthrough in 2013 with a supporting role in the time-travel romance About Time, and as one of the main characters in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street.

Best Worst Picture Bracket Game: I Know Who Killed Me Vs. Fifty Shades of Grey

I Know Who Killed Me Vs. 50 Shades

Is it getting a little hot in here?  I don’t know if the competition is heating up or if its the contented looks on Lindsay Lohan’s and Dakota Johnson’s faces.  Today’s showdown is between two movies you don’t want to watch with your parents.  That is, unless mom’s into torture porn and S&M, in which case, knock yourselves out.

Best Worst Picture Bracket Game: I Know Who Killed Me Vs. Jack and Jill

I Know Who Killed Me Vs. Jack and Jill

Golden Raspberry Awards: 2007

Razzies 2007

The Golden Raspberries started off as an informal joke.  Something for a publicist and his friends to do after the Oscars had ended.  Over time, it has become and enduring and irreverent tradition.  In theory, The Razzies poke fun at the worst movies of the year.  But like any awards ceremony, the Razzies frequently make the wrong call.  We’re going back and looking at the history of the Golden Raspberry Awards one year at a time.

The twenty-eighth annual Razzies nominated the movies of 2007.   Two threequels, Spider-Man 3 and Shrek the Third, were the highest-grossing movies that year.  The Coen brothers won Best Director for No Country For Old Men which was also named Best Picture.  At the Razzies, La Lohan played twins and Eddie Murphy played everyone else.

What the Hell Happened to Lindsay Lohan?

lindsay Lohan 2013

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan isn’t just a train wreck.  She is a train that is perpetually wrecking.  It’s as though someone keeps rewinding the tape and replaying the same disaster over and over and over again.  The situation has gone from sad to funny and back again more times than I can count.  It’s hard to remember, but just ten years ago Lohan was the most promising actress in Hollywood.  She seemed poised for greatness.  On screen, she had a talent and composure beyond her years.  In reality, she was ill-equipped to deal with the pressures of her life.  Her public melt-down is in danger of lasting longer than her career.

What the hell happened?
